We’ve Been Here Before
American Thinker ^ | 29 Apr, 2025 | Allan J. Feifer

It’s an obvious fact that we have individuals living amongst us (citizens and non-citizens) fomenting violence, undertaking seditious acts, breaking our laws, and knowingly furthering false narratives intended to harm us. They are led by people employed by foreign governments or groups whose actions intend to overthrow our way of life, sow discord, alter our essential narratives, and disrupt our economic and political systems. In effect, they are levying what amounts to war against us.

We’ve been here before. Before WWII, there were other anti-American groups and malicious narratives similar to what we are experiencing today. Then, as now, America faced an uncertain future with war warnings and economic calamity omnipresent. Americans in the 1930s were worried about Bolshevism, anarchists, unlawful immigration, and a rising fear of “fifth columnists“ perceived to be almost everywhere.

Communists and fascists commanded the national airwaves, trumpeting the evils of American-style democracy and its failed economic system that still hadn’t recovered from the Great Depression. Americans were looking for answers in all the wrong places. Unfortunately, then as now, there was no shortage of malcontents and bomb throwers who were ready to join in the mayhem.

Succumbing to this pressure, Congress passed the Alien Registration Act (aka the Smith Act) on June 28, 1940, which created

Criminal penalties for advocating the overthrow of the U.S. government by force or violence and requiring all non-citizen adult residents to register with the federal government

Although over 200 people have been tried under the Act, it’s been used with less frequency because it often ran afoul of the First Amendment. The question, always, is how we retain our liberties without allowing our enemies to use those same liberties against us?

We have so many people supporting the illegal invasion of our country. I find it very hard to comprehend the thought process that these people are using.

Why wouldn’t these Che Guevara wannabes advocate overthrowing the US government? They’re completely fine overthrowing other nations’ governments

It's not complicated:
For many politicians -- especially, but not limited to, those in the Democrat/Communist Party -- the preservation of our Republic (and with that, the preservation of Liberty) is of far less concern than is the preservation of these politicians' personal power and the public perception of their "importance" and "influence".

I always wait until the article loads and then switch to the read only option on the top right corner. The text will be in the center of your screen with no distractions on either side. American Thinker aims its content at intelligent people, the ads are aimed at morons.

Quite frankly, we’re really only presented with two options: extreme violence or prayer.

And, I think many people are incapable of the former and un-willing to do the latter.

"Our country" is the key term. These people don't consider themselves Americans.

Some are globalists who, like locusts, will just move on to the next crop. Others are disordered and believe the country can be forced to change into their worldview which has no basis in reason or logic.

Just before WW2 the commie trash in America were very pro-Hitler — ‘cause he and Stalin had signed a treat on how to divvy up Eastern Europe. All the commie trash (who later infected Hollywood and Gov’mt) were gaga over the little Jew hater until Germany invaded the USSR.
Oospie. Overnight the orders from Stalin came out that pro-Nazi in America was not cool. It wasn’t the non-commie that changed their tune — it was only the commie trash that did. Normies hated both of them the same waaaay before outbreak.

“the preservation of these politicians’ personal power”

*************

Correct. Everything Dems do is designed to increase their power and control. They want everyone to be dependent on them.

“their worldview which has no basis in reason or logic”

Only one thing matters to them: absolute power. That’s what drives everything they do.

When I was working for USPS, there were a few either clueless dips or wannabe anarchists wearing Che Guevara t-shirts while they worked. Bothered me a lot. Didn’t know whether one of them might think to engage in a terrorist act or not.

The hatred towards anyone not falling down in worship to Leader Obama was palpable, before and after it took power. Election? No. Overthrow.

EVENTUALLY, supervisors and management began to realize that it was a bad idea to allow these punks to sport these vicious garments, I was among those lodging complaints that it was fomenting an anarchist tone in the postal plant and a viable threat to safety.

They stopped wearing the shirts but their work ethic didn’t change.
So much for “hope and change”, huh?
