A presidential memorandum signed on April 15 directed multiple federal agencies to take steps to prevent ineligibles, such as illegal immigrants, from receiving social security benefits. An executive order issued Feb. 19 asked agencies to ensure “no taxpayer-funded benefits go to unqualified aliens” and to “prevent taxpayer resources from acting as a magnet and fueling illegal immigration to the US.”
The Trump administration’s immigration enforcement efforts have been met with challenges:
<><>a federal judge blocked stripping federal tax dollars from “sanctuary cities.”
<><>State and local govts blocked local officials from enforcing federal laws wrt immigration.
<><>over a dozen cities filed suit over cessation of federal funding for “sanctuary cities.”
Yeah, it’s weird.
I go to that DOGE tracking site on my PC and it reads 160 billion. However, that same site on my iPhone reads 150 billion.
Yawn! Congress will do nothing. If Trump tries to do something a leftist federal judge will order him to stop. He will obey the order and possibly appeal. The Supreme Court will use every excuse in the book to not make a decision. Time will click on to the midterms where if the Dems capture either or both houses of Congress it is game over for the Trump administration, just as it was in the 2018 elections.
The Deep State has a million ways to delay. Delay works against Trump who is blamed daily for every ill in the universe.
Sadly, while Trump won a majority vote in the 2024 election, an overwhelming majority of the citizens must favor change before the corrupt political system and the bureaucracy will change. Trump doesn’t even have the majority of his own party in Congress behind him. I applaud his efforts but his initial moments is slowly disappating as the resistance gains strength.
They are only claiming what they can claw back. I think they should also claim savings going forward. Maybe they have to wait for Congress to move on costs going forward.
