Understanding the Age of Assassination

When everything is copacetic, then humans live in the economic world of being useful. But if things go wrong we decide that evil is abroad. And if things really go south then we are talking about enemy action.

Experts were shocked, shocked, by the assassination of healthcare executive Brian Thompson on December 4, 2024, for which a certain young white male Luigi Mangione is accused. But then the pollsters got busy and found that, on the Left, there was significant support for assassination. Zack Dulberg and Max Horder wrote all about it in City Journal.

We found that nearly one-third of Americans surveyed -- and around half of those identifying as left-of-center -- believe that the murder of certain public figures is at least somewhat justified.

Put me down as one who is not surprised. Why? Because I am a student of Nazi jurist Carl Schmitt and his Concept of the Political. Schmitt writes that

The specific political distinction to which political actions and motives can be traced is the distinction between friend and enemy.

He continues:

[The enemy] is just the other, the stranger, and it is sufficient to his nature that he is existentially different and foreign in a particularly intense way, so that in extreme cases conflicts with him are possible.

Curtis Yarvin, who put me on to Carl Schmitt, makes it Real Simple. “There is no politics without an enemy.”

What do you do to an enemy? You assassinate him.

It is the conceit of moderns, according to Schmitt, to believe that if only society is properly ordered according to the right -- usually “liberal” -- principles, then war and enemies and assassinations will go away: peace. So we talk not of wars but of “pacifications,” and “peacekeeping missions.”

I would suggest that this happens when public figures believe the murder of citizens is at least somewhat justified. Ashly Babbett gunned down with zero legality. Tens or hundreds of thousands and more were murdered with the covid shot, on daisy chains of ventilators, with remdesivir killing their kidneys.

Babies were murdered and their parts sold over salads.
Regular non-violent guys were murdered with pre-dawn raids by the ATF, when a knock at the door at 9am would have been fine.
Murdered by letting paying for and protecting BLM murder at will for a summer, with mass murder in foreign policy for some economic goal, when Hillary and Pompeo seriously wanted to assassinate Assange, with the military more and more discussing how and when they should operate against the American people.

And then of course, this Heath Care executive with his deny, delay depose strategy, and blanket refusals of coverage condemning people to death, tripling his profit margin over all competitors.

And of course, who can forget the good old Death Panels?

Remember how they just flooded in 20 million illegals and are completely calloused when they murder rape and drive drunk. Last, big shots from Bill Gates, to the WEF, to half our government continually lecture us that we need 90 to 95% of the world’s population to vanish.

All of that sends a VERY strong message that the powerful in our country truly believes that “the murder of certain people is at least somewhat justified.”

Guess it’s a real bitch when you get back what you visit on others.

Bottom line, our government and elites have become bloodthirsty, murderous, and utterly indifferent to the untimely death, suffering and pain of normies outside the credentialed class in ways that would have been unthinkable not too long ago. They laugh at the rape, murder, medical misery, and economic hardship they visit on everyone else.

And then they have the audacity to be surprised at getting the same treatment.

Not justifying Luigi. But maybe out Luigi government needs to clean up it’s act a lot. Beat your kids constantly, and every now and then one of them is gonna turn on you.
