Bernie Sanders: Democrats Lack ‘Vision for the Future’
Breitbart ^ | 04/27/2025 | Pam Key

Posted on 04/27/2025 10:54:51 AM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) that the Democratic Party lacked a vision for the future.

Host Kristen Welker said, “Let’s talk about what you have called your oligarchy, and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez have been criss-crossing the country warning of an oligarchy. Senator you told the New York Times, ‘One of the aspects of this is to get people to get engaged in the political process and run as independents outside of the Democratic Party.’ As someone who twice ran in the Democratic presidential primary are you trying to strengthen the Democratic Party or Senator, are you trying to start a third party?”

Sanders said, we’re not trying to strengthen a third party. We are trying to strengthen the American democracy. Right now it’s extremely low. We are living, Kristen, in the richest country in the history of the world and yet you have one person, Mr. Musk, who owns more wealth than the bottom 53% of American households. That is insane. That is oligarchy on steroids. Meanwhile, we have 60% of our workers living paycheck to paycheck. We have the highest rate of childhood poverty of almost any major nation on earth and we have over 20% of seniors in America living on $15,000 a year or less. What the American people are saying is that they want, and what our tour was about is to say that they want an economy that works for all of us, and not just for Musk and other billionaires.”

Sweden has privatized retirement and schools that work.

Again, we hear the line about, how we want an economy that works for all of us, not just millionaires, billionaires and or those at the very top.

My question is , why is it that when good Democrats such as Biden, Obama , or Bill Clinton were president, that these problems didn’t get resolved when Democrats were in charge?

It doesn’t matter whatever “new” vision Democrats like Sanders claims to adopt, it will always just be cheap cover for the same old vision of government bloat, malfeasance, trannies, muslims and illegal migrants.

OK, he’s right about that. I don’t care for his solutions but he’s the only liberal/marxist offering any.

Way way back in the day, Bernie was pals with a camo-wearing scruffy ‘freedom-fighter’ named Daniel Ortega.

The same Daniel Ortega who is now the dictator of Nicaragua.

Yeah, and you've been in power for the last 50 years and haven't done sh*t except to let it/make it happen.

Yes, and Democrats never griped about Musk’s wealth when they thought he was on their side.

Same old socialist crap that promises to steal from the rich rather than create more wealth. It doesn’t work, as we have seen countless times in history.

Bernie is uncommonly perceptive. Not to harsh all over his mellow, but the “Democrat Socialist” train is going NOWHERE, and at some level, Bernie knows that. Americans are not Swedes, and the frontier/pioneer mentality is still alive and prospering in this country, perhaps not in every corner, but down in Heartland America, the 2,200 plus counties that voted in favor of Trump, versus the five hundred or so counties that voted in favor of - somebody else.

To explain the Swedish phenomenon, the more adventurous Swedes emigrated to the rest of the world, taking their spirit of the frontier pioneer with them, and the more docile, compliant remainder stayed in Sweden. In that now much less restive remnant in Sweden, the “co-operative spirit”, conducive to a kind of benevolent socialism, took root and grew.

A word of caution - this “benevolent socialism” does not transplant well. The National Socialist German Workers Party tried to copy the forms and conditions in Germany, but made the mistake of trying to enforce their aims on their neighbors by ruthless aggression, and trying to purge the “undesirables” from within their own population.

That did not end well.
