When the 2020 version of MS Flight Simulator came out it could bury most PC’s with its graphics. Even a 2080 Super had low frame rates with good settings.
It was a running joke in PC game circles back then that the gaming world went from “Can it run Crysis” to “Can it run Microsoft Flight Simulator”?
I did want to remind people that MSFS 2020 and 2024 have both been made available for free when you sign up for Microsoft Game Pass. The free trial period for Game Pass is usually 14 days these days but they have special offers where you can get it for free for a longer period of time. It is always a good idea to try some type of free trial with any software that you purchase.
When MSFS 202 came out, whether it would run on your computer depended on the computer and the settings that you used... It ran fine with slowish frame rates and some of the details turned down on my Envy x360 laptop with a Ryzen 5 processor and no dedicated GPU. I received messages saying that my computer did not meet the minimum recommended hardware requirements which I just ignored.
Unfortunately, after a few years the developers kept adding more features and the performance began to suffer on that laptop. So, I eventually purchased a more powerful laptop with a dedicated GPU.
