Thanks!
It really gone downhill. Crime infested, not a good spot to visit.
Many here and abroad, London is LOST.
Like lot of Europe (aka EU) they are all sliding fast.
The un-elected Bureaucrats and their blind socialism has ruined their economies. It leads to total Slavery.
Cultural suicide is difficult for me to grasp.
Our Scottish ancestry suggests we have Northern African DNA from Roman exploration during the reign of Emperor Hadrian and his successor, Antoninus Pius in the 1st century AD.
Agree.
It is Insame and evil.
Sounds right. Years ago there were restaurants and other businesses there. It goes back to prior to Civil War days.
They never got over WWI.
Thus spoke Jacob Dutton (played by, surprisingly, Limousine Liberal Harrison Ford):
“Every civilization in this world is built on top of the one they conquered. You go to Rome or Jerusalem or Paris, France and it’s cities stacked on top of towns stacked on top of villages on top of some man’s house built on top of one man’s cave.”
The first time I went to formerly great Britain, I went to Scotland first thing. On the way north I got off the train at Newcastle just because I wanted to lay eyes on something as ancient as Hadrian’s wall. Then I spent four hours standing on the platform waiting for the next train. And it was some time between Boxing Day and New Year’s.
A week later I was back in England and went to the Tower of London. And there I saw a section of Roman wall less than 80 years newer than Hadrian’s wall. Only this one I got to see without freezing my dingleberries off. :-(
It wasn't so much that they never got over WWI as it was that the time was right for the Communists to infiltrate England's liberal politics.
For centuries the English had had a caste system that discriminated harshly against the lower classes both socially and financially. At war's end the lower classes were eager to adopt socialism because it promised to give them redress for past grievances and elevate their position in return for contributions they made to the war effort.
That was the socialist Labor party's nose under the tent, and Labor's similar strategery after WWII finished the job. Like the frog in the gradually-heated pot of water, the common English got more and more comfortable with a gradually-increasing level of government control, until in time it came to run EVERYTHING.
The same thing happens to USA. Nearly every professor at an university is a Marxist.
Years ago, different forum, a woman recounted an experience, a bus tour, and the driver was talking to them via a microphone. There were somewhere in the rural north, a scenic village, and were stopping to get something to eat in some pub there. There was some kind of demolition or construction work going on nearby. A big pile of cut stone was setting there, maybe newly quarried, maybe salvage. The driver actually told them that it was all that remained of the famous Hadrian’s Wall. And she fell for it. :^)
