SWATTING is attempted murder. The perp should be charged accordingly. It's multiple counts - one count for each SWAT officer sent multiplied by the number of people in the house. 10 officers responding to a false call with 3 people in the house would be 30 charges of attempted murder against the caller because each of the 10 officers could have killed 3 people.
If I hired two hitmen a week apart, it's not one charge of attempted murder, it's two. That they showed up on the same day doesn't make it one charge.

At some point, these police agencies have to take responsibility for having a system that allows this sort of thing. They are duped so often that they have become a threat to decent people in this country. By now, they should be more reluctant to just go charging in with their quasi-military meatheads every time some outlandish claim is made over an untraceable telephone.
