Ours runs out before theirs.
We starve without it because food can’t move to shelves and mouths. We beg. They agree to feed us, in return for total subjugation.
That’s what losing a war is. And it’s inevitable. Geology decides this. Nothing else.
In the world of oil scarcity, you don’t want to bomb and kill your enemy. You want them alive, consuming oil so that the day of starvation arrives sooner. Starvation is the whole populace. Not merely those in the blast radius.
No, I’m not thinking of the future. I’m not even thinking of Russia or Ukraine or for that matter even the USA. History is written by the winners. When you completely lose a war to the point of national extinction, you budget deficits no longer matter.
So I just disagree when you say the worst thing for a country is a budget deficit.
