There is considerable evidence and commentary indicating that Putin wears shoes with lifts or heels to appear taller. Multiple reports, including photographs from public appearances, show him wearing shoes with noticeably thick heels or platforms, particularly during events where he is surrounded by others, such as his 2023 visit to Moscow State University. These shoes are often described as “elevator shoes” or “height-enhancing” and are estimated to add 2 to 6 inches to his height. Social media posts and articles have pointed out his altered gait, which some attribute to the use of such footwear.
