China begins returning Boeing aircraft to US

Chinese airlines have begun returning Boeing aircraft to the U.S., with one 737 Max recently landing back at a Boeing production hub in Seattle over the weekend, according to Reuters.

Saturday’s return occurred shortly after China ordered its airlines not to take further deliveries of Boeing aircraft in response to the U.S. imposing 145% tariffs on Chinese goods, Bloomberg News reported last week.

A trio of 737 Max 8 jets that were originally being readied at Boeing’s Zhoushan delivery center for two Chinese airlines were recalled to the U.S. last week, according to aviation news service The Air Current, citing two people familiar with Boeing’s plans.

Reuters confirmed over the weekend that a witness saw a Boeing jet intended for China’s Xiamen Airlines landing back at the planemaker’s production hub in Seattle. The aircraft, which was painted with Xiamen livery, was one of the several 737 Max jets waiting at the Zhoushan completion center for final work and delivery to the Chinese carrier.

Fox News Digital reached out to Boeing and Xiamen Airlines for comment, but they did not immediately respond.

Lin Jian, the chief spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a press conference on April 16 that he was "not familiar with" China making any formal announcement telling its airlines to refuse delivery from Boeing.

The Air Current said China’s order to halt Boeing deliveries has also affected domestic business. A Chinese aircraft lessor saw another Chinese airline back away from its commitment to take delivery, forcing the lessor to remarket the already-built 737 Max 8 to other airlines, the outlet reported, citing two people familiar with the development.

Analysts also said airline CEOs may rather defer plane deliveries than pay duties, according to Reuters, which could potentially damage Chinese airline operations.

The Japanese have a work ethic not shared by the Chinese. 75 years of communism have turned the vast majority of the Chinese population amoral and selfish. Because that’s what their government is.

Those military-age encampments of Han people that came in illegally. They can have them back.

This is the tell that China will bend the knee to TrumpII on tariffs.

The Chinese are returning planes capable of international flight, which they do not produce domestically until COMAC's C929 comes online long after TrumpII, even TrumpIII, are behind us.

FFS the very first remotely-competitive domestically-produced airliner C919 only made its first commercial flight 2 years ago! It can't even fly Beijing to Singapore! It is meant solely as a gap-stop aircraft to fill the insane demand inside China for air travel, and I very much doubt RyanAir ever sees a EU-certified C919 or a penny of their dumb mick money back.

If TrumpII really wanted to kick the PLA in the jimmies, renew his 2017 restriction on foreigners traveling from mainland China and extend it to any and all flights leaving the Chinese mainland. The PLA wants to die on this hill, so be it.

And another thing -- COMAC's C919 runs on CFM International engines. CFM is what of left of GE's engine manufacturing component, still headquartered in Cincy.

How Smokey gonna sound without no airplane engines XI you dumb confucian monkey.

To be Japanese and successful means climbing higher in Japanese society, continuing to share knowledge and success with those around you.

To be successful in China means corruption and doing whatever it takes to get to a point where you can send your kids overseas for school as the first step of getting out from under Communism.

Done right? Who cares?

Stolen from others? So what?

I only need to get mine and get out.

When I tell people China is our geopolitical enemy I get blank stares. People just don’t get it.

Forgive me if I dance around the language a little bit, but from my understanding Japan is another “Western state” that embraces socialism to some degree. Big government spending. Corporate welfare. Central Bank interference in the economy. Like Britain some may nominally regard Japan as Capitalist, but it is furthest from in reality.

I agree, Japan is not America. Exception is that when their corporate leaders get caught in corruption, they resign and some kill themselves. In the USA, corrupt leaders get congratulated by Democrats.

Japan is not the problem, China is. Right now, the Japanese carmakers are getting hammered by Chinese cars imported into Japan, notably BYD. What happened to our carmakers, is now happening to Japan’s. Their government can try to save Toyota, Honda, Nissan/Mitsubishi/Mazda, etc. But failing big time. No concern of mine for Japan, Britain, France, etc. I’m glad we have President Trump trying to turn things around for us.
