I didn't know that vegans don't consume sugar. Some of the most harmful things a person can ingest are embraced as "vegan". Plant based "milk", fruit smoothies, energy bars, fruit yogurt, coconut sugar, brown rice syrup, plant-based margarine, rice cakes, dried raisins, sports drinks, and breakfast cereal will make you obese where meat will not. I've seen vegan salads with 1,400 calories per serving.

The topic was veganism versus eating meat. Sugar wasn't a part of the conversation.

But obesity "in the standard American diet" was added to the conversation: "The standard American diet has brought us to, roughly, 30 percent of us being obese and/or diabetic from being fat ... and yet you decry a different way of eating."

Man has eaten meat for thousands of years and the 30 percent of Americans who are obese didn't get that way from eating meat.

Let's start with the parts of the food poison pyramid full of grains and other non-meat consumables.
