U.S. proposes lighter sanctions on Russia as part of peace plan with Ukraine: Bloomberg

-snip-

As part of the U.S. plan, the yearslong war would be considered frozen, the EU sources told Bloomberg. Ukrainian areas currently occupied by Russia would stay under the Vladimir Putin-led country's leadership, they said.

Ukraine would not enter the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, a military alliance better known as NATO, under the proposal, the sources said.

Russia can see pared back sanctions as part of this proposal, according to Bloomberg. But Bloomberg's report noted that ending restrictions placed on the country from the EU, such as unfreezing immobilized assets, requires approval of all member states.

The plan would not be considered a final settlement between the two countries, one of the EU officials told Bloomberg. European allies would not recognize Russia-controlled territories of Ukraine as under Moscow's rule, per the source.

Ukraine will reject this

BREAKING: Bloomberg reports that the US presented its initial concrete Ukraine peace plan to European allies in Paris, proposing a ceasefire that allows Russia to retain newly acquired territories while Ukraine abandons its NATO aspirations.

Yes, and at some point the US must publicly admit this and wish Ukraine the best in going it alone to continue their impossible dream. If the Europeans decide to step.in fully and replace the US there, good for them. They almost certainly wont.

If Russia keeps the territories in Ukraine the invasion then the sanctions should stay in place, and Europe should refuse all oil and gas from Russia and allies going forward. Let Putin decide wherein his best option is here. Another hostile neighbor, and no trade, is probably a worse choice for Vlad the Invader.

Zelensky will have the same choice a year from now as he currently has.
Except thousands more deaths on both sides in between.

If they are still importing Russian oil and gas during the war After 3 years , why would they stop after?

Aren’t there other sources now?

If Ukraine wants to buy the arms from USA, get EU to pay for it 100%.

/////////////////////////////////////////

No. The source of all misunderstanding about just about everything. The answer is no.

Oil and gas is produced and faces voracious growth in consumption by both China and India.

Russia has the largest natgas reserves in the world. End of conversation.

People have to understand this. Once they do, they have two choices. Accept it and know that the vast oil and gas geography of Russia guarantees its eventual dominance.

Or Accept it and explicitly go public and announce that the world must invade Russia to take that geography and rob it of that oil and gas.

There is no in between. No finesse. No oblique. Recognize oil as civilization’s lifeblood and steal it, publicly and overtly, or don’t and accept eventual subordination.

Z didn’t lose the four, now Russian, oblasts, Z’s DC and London masters lost them. The Istanbul Peace process left them all in Ukrainian control. Z apparently had approved the terms of the deal. Then DC’s mop headed, warmongering stooge showed up to strangle the peace in its crib.

And, destroy their own economies in the process!

Brilliant idea!

Agree, except it wont destroy their econnomies. They would have to compensate, maybe pay a bit more, maybe go ‘green’ a bit, who knows coal from Poland. No Iranian, No Russian, No Venezuela oil and gas. They will have economies, and Russia will have liabilities. There is always Ukrainian oil and gas, drill baby drill.

Ukraine and the EU are more of a threat to the US than Russia. Open up trade with Russia, they have much of what we need.
