The US has reportedly offered to ease sanctions on Moscow in a plan presented to allies aimed at enabling a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.
According to a report by Bloomberg, the plan also includes an outline of terms to end the fighting. The sanctions may be eased in the event of a lasting ceasefire.
The renewed push to end the war comes even as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio suggested on Friday that the Trump administration is prepared to “move on” from its peace efforts unless progress is made. US Vice President JD Vance, on the other hand, said in Rome on the same day that he was “optimistic” about the chances of bringing the war to a close.
The contours of the US plan was shared during meetings in Paris on Thursday, the sources quoted in the Bloomberg report confirmed.
The proposal cited in the report would see the status quo maintained. That means it would effectively freeze the war, with Ukrainian territories now occupied by Russia remaining under Moscow’s control. Ukraine would also not be able to join NATO.

In fact, the Russians are throwing even more men away in desperate motorcycle charges, large columns of Russian 20+ armored vehicles are getting blown up in a way not seen for a long time and the Ukrainians are launching successful spoiling attacks drawing out and killing troops intended to be used in future offensives.
The Ukes have retaken a little territory back that Russia had won at high cost and generally upping the tempo in killing Russians in the meatgrinder.

Folks should spend some time on youtube.
There are many people who post videos there from Russia. It will give you a look at day to day life there.
Is it propaganda? It can be. You can take measures to insulate yourself from that, beyond those that youtube already took. My best suggestion is to find posters whose channel extends back pre war. Pre 2022. They exist. English speaking Russians have been posting to youtube that long, and if their channel is that old, and you see no startling change in their content, you have some confidence about it not being propaganda.
Life in Russia is not horrible and destitute. It’s not at all. One guy, an Australian, specializes in posting videos from grocery stores in Moscow and outside Moscow.
There are barcode scanners. There are full shelves. The shopping carts look like Walmart style. When he walks outside and points at something, you can look in the other direction and see cars on the roads. It’s not a place with donkey carts carrying food to the shelves.
People have some decades old image in their minds of what is in Russia. It’s just not that. Very modern and no one walking around emaciated from starvation. That’s all just silly.

Russian forces launched a series of assault operations in western Zaporizhzhia Oblast and have made new progress the the Orikhiv direction.
Russian forces advanced in two main areas. In the east, 15 armoured vehicles and around 20 light vehicles including buggies, ATVs and motorcycles took part in a large scale attack towards Mala Tokmachka. Most of the vehicles were damaged or destroyed, but some soldiers managed to dismount and take up positions in the first houses of Mala Tokmachka. Additionally, Russian forces attacked north and northwest up treelines to the southwest, seizing new positions in the direction of the prison.
In the west, a diversionary attack was carried out, in which three BTR-82As participated. Two hit mines and the third was hit by an FPV drone, however infantry were able to consolidate in a stronghold and captured adjacent positions in the treelines.

Russian forces continued to advance on the eastern flank of Pokrovsk and have made new progress east of the village of Myrolyubivka.
Russian forces advanced west through the forest plantations, moving towards the southern part of Myrolyubivka. Additionally, they advanced north up a treeline west of the village of Yelyzavetivka, and captured two further treelines to the northwest.
Russian forces then conducted a mechanised assault towards the forest east of Myrolyubivka, resulting in the loss of some of the equipment. It is unclear if a foothold was established or not.
+ ~2.60km² in favour of Russia.
In the Siversk direction, Russian forces are continuing their advance and have captured the remaining two of the “eyelash” treelines.
Two of the four fortified eyelash treelines (the ones which go from north to south like an eyelash) were already under Russian control. Russian attacks from the forests to the south brought the remaining two under their control. Additional attacks were carried out down the forested areas to the north, where new positions were occupied, therefore finally eliminating the Ukrainian presence in Luhansk Oblast near Bilohorivka.
Additionally, Russian forces pushed into Donetsk Oblast and captured most of a forest. The northern end is currently in the grey zone.
+ ~2.11km² in favour of Russia.
In the Myropillya direction, Russian forces continued to advance and captured further positions in Kursk Oblast.
After establishing a foothold in the village of Gornal, Russian forces closed the distance between their troops to the west and the northern part of Gornal by attacking south from positions in the forest area near the monastery, and southwest from positions at the monastery, capturing new positions in the forest plantations on the northern outskirts of Gornal.
+ ~1.50km² in favour of Russia.
In the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces advanced and entered the village of Mala Shapkivka.
Russian forces advanced northwest up a treeline from the R-79 highway and captured positions along it on the tactical heights. They then entered the outskirts of Mala Shapkivka, before taking up positions in the first houses of the village and the surrounding forests in the low-lying ground.
Additionally, Russian forces advanced down a treeline further north, capturing positions there too.
+ ~0.85km² in favour of Russia.
