A third high-level Pentagon staffer has been placed on administrative leave in two days as part of a probe into media leaks.

Colin Carroll, chief of staff to Deputy Secretary of Defense Stephen Feinberg, was escorted out of the building on Wednesday, following Dan Caldwell, senior advisor to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Darin Selnick, deputy chief of staff to Hegseth.

"We can confirm that Mr. Carroll has been placed on administrative leave pending investigation. We have nothing additional to provide at this time," a defense official told Fox News Digital.

Approximately how many sides does Hegseth have left now?
Or is that number classified information?
I’m glad he’s doing this Round Up weeding out now, early in Trump’s second term, so the effect of the undesirables has now been muted.

That’s why your man PETE is feared.

Once upon a time I worked in the DC area in a rather important DoD entity HQ. Leaking of anything by anyone was never ever even considered.

I recall reading hit pieces in the Washington Post in that era by Jack Anderson. He claimed our outfit was great at picking locks in one of his stories. He never used any “unnamed sources”, he just made it up back then.

What can these DOD/Pentagon employees be thinking, that leaking even policy stances and/or conversations is somehow good for the nation?

This strikes me as the detritus lingering from that period when Obama urged his acolytes to "burrow in." And then in the Biden administration they burrowed back out.

I my too many years and too much mileage, I've signed nondisclosure agreements and held to them to this day. Leakers like this need more than simple firing.

These guys had dream jobs but their egos just couldn’t help spilling dirt to journalists to impress them with their importance.

These do not seem to include the former Marine and Air Force officers canned for demanding accountability from the brass for the Kabul disaster and DEI racism, respectively.

So I assume these were DOD holdovers or GOP operatives newly brought in.

Its a knife that cuts both ways. Politicians have been known to use anonymous sources to get trial balloons out to see what the reaction is. In these cases I’m assuming they weren’t authorized to speak off the record. Probably career folk.

Hegseth’s job—returning the Pentagon’s orientation to warfighting—is a massive undertaking.

As with any serious institutional shake-up, the first phase is chaos. That’s not failure—it’s a clear indication the plan is working. It’s what happens when those trying to rescue a failing organization collide with those who don’t want change.

As for why Pete’s handpicked aides may have betrayed him and the MAGA mission—it’s possible they were genuinely loyal to Pete in a less politicized environment, like Concerned Veterans for America. But once inside the Pentagon, the pressure to defend the status quo—or play politics—may have triggered different loyalties.

The good news is they were quickly exposed and removed.

An interesting perspective. If "politicians," then what are these "probably career folk" doing in the DOD?

Given the politicization of everything these days, and especially when thinking of the Obama / Biden nexus, it seems time to cull active politics from many arenas of life....

Great comment.

New leaders in a hostile environment will not be respected unless they act decisively in personnel matters.

Once they are feared those who are “on the fence” will fall in line.

That is one reason why every agency must have massive personnel cuts—the remaining employees must have zero doubt—the new boss is not just an empty suit.

Those "journalists" aren't really journalists. They're messengers, relaying information back to their globalist handlers.

The fake news mafia strokes their ego. They might even get paid off. This is rarely, if ever, an issue with Demrats. CNN, MNBC and the Wash Post had ZERO interest in exposing the dark underbelly of the Biden cabal.
