I’ve never been against gain-of-function research. On principle it is essential to stay ahead of natural selection. But, there are two problems. First, in this case the CCP deliberately released the plague in order to facilitate stealing the 2020 election. This sort of corruption must be controlled.
Second, there is a total lack of security on these facilities. WUT, they have never heard of Murphy’s Law? Bad shitte will happen. So, place the labs of this type where any sort of release, no matter how trivial, will be dealt with. At the extreme, on a desert island with a small yield nuke in the basement. If something like a “class 4” release goes off the nuke blows — buggies gone.
