I enjoyed him as a pre-teen, and early teen. But I agree he was pretty low level comedy.

Monty Python on the otherhand has stood the test of time for a reason.

True. But whenever I channel flipped and got his show, I did stay for the chase scene.

In the early ‘80s two distant teen-age cousins came over from Glasgow to visit. They were particularly keen to explore our cable TV and watch US detective shows. However, the first thing which came on was some Benny Hill rerun. I can still remember their simultaneous expressions of disgust: “AUGGH! BENNAH HILL!”.
