It's been a number of years since I was in the military; appointment to a military academy requires not only outstanding academic marks but also interviews to ensure that the prospective cadet or midshipmen is also of the highest moral character.
I'm a little concerned that the "system" didn't do a little better job at detecting what a scum he was.
Having been through that nomination/appointment process myself, it would be very difficult to catch someone like him who is smart and knows how to keep controversial opinions under wraps. He’d simply avoid mentioning those ideas, and you wouldn’t know. Very difficult to get inside someone’s actual head, and the process isn’t as rigorous as a TS/SCI investigation would be.
The system went to Hell with DEI which actually began in government outfits well before it became noticed generally.
