Kyren Lacy, NFL draft prospect, dead at 24 — months after alleged involvement in fatal crash

He was 24.

The cause of death is suspected to be suicide...

Lacy’s death comes months after he was arrested for his alleged involvement in a crash that killed a 78-year-old man in December.

A grand jury was scheduled to begin hearing the case on Monday...

He was accused of speeding in a 2023 Dodge Charger and crossing the center line in a no-passing zone, causing other drivers to swerve, which led to the death of Herman Hall. Lacy then allegedly fled the scene.

“The driver of the Dodge, later identified as 24-year-old Kyren Lacy of Thibodaux, recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated No-Passing Zone,” a Louisiana State Police Department release said in January.

“As Lacy was illegally passing the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge. Traveling behind the pickup was a 2017 Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the on coming Dodge Charger. As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento.

I seriously doubt it was suicide.

it’s ALWAYS a Dodge Charger (or Challenger) ...

they’re also the most prevalent [by far] speedsters creating havoc on the roads on ON Patrol Live ...

of course, unless Stellantis gives up on their ridiculous Charger EV and mini-ICE-engine models and go back to making the V-8 powerhouses everyone wants to buy, all of the existing charger/challengers will soon be wrecked and a great highway menace will cease ...

(I seriously doubt it was suicide.)

Local articles suggest that a Grand Jury Hearing was being set up for Monday or Tuesday. He was most likely going to be indicted.

“24 months and already NFL caliber?”

Being the #1 receiver at LSU puts you in that arena.

Why wouldn’t it be suicide?

Is this a tragedy or someone living down to the level of what’s expected of him?

Then again maybe not. When the Challengers and Chargers are all wrecked they will start on the EV’s, they have quick acceleration, and a “vroom vroom” canned exhaust note too.🤣

Sure, but with NFL money, he could have impacted the case favorably.

No need to slice your neck.

Unless, of course, the guilt got to him.

I drive 2000 miles a week and can attest to those who drive any Dodge product is a menace. Between chuckleheads in Chargers and Challengers and those morons who drive Ram pickup trucks, its a toss up on who will kill ya first.

What NFL money? With those charges, he’d be persona non grata to the NFL. Then more so when behind bars.

Yeah, you’re right. Maybe realizing his new situation motivated him to take his own life.

That’s a genuine shame. Ain’t nothing worth killing yourself over.

Mr Hall is my wife’s best friend’s uncle. She said they had 119 calls from the press in less than ten minutes after Lacy’s death was announced.

I would say tragedy. One man lost his life, and exuberant young man on his way places was about to face vehicle or homicide. Nothing he could do couldn’t do it. Took his life. That’s not tragedy I don’t know what it is.
In fact, I kind of have the Hari Kiri belief. Not for me personally of course, but at least when one of those Japanese guys committed suicide, you know they were sincere. I think it would’ve been better had he stayed alive and decided to make something out of his life after whatever consequences came. 24 year olds don’t see it that way though
