Thats not the issue. Its forced medication that is the issue.

Despite the fact that I worked with people with violent mental health issues that could be a danger to themselves or others, I could not do anything to “make” a person take medication. It is their “right” to refuse.

That is to say that a person that has already been judged by the courts to not be competent to make their own decisions is allowed to make the decision weather medication would be helpful but a child with competent parents cannot make the same decision.

The weird thing about deranged shooter Jarad Loughner was he was judged to be insane and he wasn't taking his meds.

So in jail they forced him to take his meds until he was judged as sane.

Then they convicted him as a sane person (for a crime while earlier off his meds and insane) and sent him to regular jail.

But even regular jail has psychiatric facilities so Loughner was immediately sent there.

All that is just weird. Why not just say he's insane?
