I attended the first F-race in Long Beach, in the mid-to-late 70s. Seems to me that first race wasn’t actually “F1” but rather a smaller F-car.
My viewing experience at that race put me off, because we saw so little actual action. Haven’t attended another race since, inasmuch as television coverage is so much more comprehensive.

Yep, first year only was Formula 5000. Then about 8 years of F1, then CART and now Indy. I saw a lot of the greats divers over the years, Lauda, both Andretti’s, Schector, Villeneuve, Fittipaldi, Regazzoni, Watson, Unser Jr.
✅TV- plus it costs too much to go to a Race these days, stay home in the A/C, food and beverage, have a good cigar, take a mid-Race nappy, clean toilet and paper to use.
If multiple Races are on the same day and times, swapping channels OR stack/ lineup multiple TV’s and watch them All.
