The article is very confusing. It alternately says the attempt was against a “U.S. Supreme Court” justice and a “Maryland Supreme Court” Justice. And why is this process taking so long? This happened nearly three years ago.

“scheduled sentencing for Oct. 3.”
The defendant pleaded guilty, trial over. Why in the world does it take 6 months to sentence the guy?
Upon the guilty plea, why didn’t the judge just say “life in prison, bailiff take him away”.
