It’s easy to understand the frustration, but let’s remember it hasn’t even been 100 days in office.
100 days is just about all President Trump has to make effective changes. Everything after that will be second-order consequences of his successes or failures.
The recent appointment of Steven Jensen as assistant director in the FBI is an extremely bad indicator that the "Deep State" has staying power. The absence of management departures at the FBI is an unfavorable indicator. The lack of visible actions from Bondi in the DOJ is another unfavorable indicator.
There have been lots of firings at DOJ, the Secret Service, the IRS, and HHS. And USAID has been dismantled. These are all very favorable indicators. The constant drumbeat of restraining orders from the Federal District Courts have been brushed aside on appeals or Supreme Court rulings. These are very favorable indicators.
It is a mixed bag. What is being done right now matters. What may be planned for next year does not matter. We can probably assess the entire remaining Trump term of office by conditions in May and June 2025.
