They should have chosen a different story, if the theater group is so nervous about what to do with no black actors.
Anyone who has read an unabridged version of Huck knows the N word is liberally sprinkled throughout the book.
That was just how common people spoke to each other back then. Later 19th, early 20th century.

I read some of Hemingway’s short stories recently, and same thing there. Average Americans were speaking this way, uninhibited, well into the early 70’s.

It’s community theater. I would imagine that they’ll have a difficult time finding diverse actors even if they’re in a major city like Denver.
