I find it interesting to look at the items that are in the locked cabinets at stores. It tells you a lot about the local culture.
“but check to see that I have a receipt.”
And you can just ignore them and walk on by. Nothing will happen. I usually file the receipts away in my wallet right after paying, so I don’t have it handy when the person asks for it.
Sometimes the receipt-checking line is long so it’s especially nice to just walk out without showing the receipt.
Is this the wonderful “socialization” homeschoolers are missing? ( Just wondering. /s)
When I was in Jr. High went to drug store with a couple of friends. We went because one girl needed to pick up RX. While we were waiting for her the other girl and I walked around looking at girly stuff. When we got back to one girl’s house the girl that had been walking around with me is emptied her pockets and she had shop lifted several items. I was in shock, I had no idea she had done that. She seemed nice, never in trouble. I have no idea if she had mental issues but as good as she was at shoplifting it was sure not new for her.
The other girl and I never had anything to do with shoplifter girl again.
Yeah, that kid at WalMart who you think is screwing off playing on his phone is actually monitoring the self checkout with an app that shows him each scan. He can see when you put something in the bag that wasn’t scanned. Wonder how this dumb butt got a principal job?
How would you know that?
When you get home do you compare the entire contents of your bags to the receipt? I find it work enough just to put things away where they belong.
I don't live close to town so I typically have several bags. I might bring in one bag, unload it, put the items away, and then bring in one or two more bags. My haul is usually from several stores, so several receipts would be involved.
The linked article also describes a man in Japan that cheated a store out of a buck or two worth of coffee. He lost a pension worth $133,000.
Well, I’ve never had my mug shot taken while wearing an orange jumpsuit for shoplifting at Walmart so it stands to reason.
So if I ever did walk out without paying for something I was unaware of it....and in my mind that’s not stealing for the simple fact that if I did accidentally I woukd go back and pay.
