On Saturday, police arrested a Portland man after he allegedly pointed a laser inside a Tesla dealership during a protest, injuring the eyes of one of the employees.
27-year-old Davis Nafshun has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of attempting to commit a felony, and misdemeanor charges of menacing and reckless endangerment.
Nafshun was released on his own recognizance the same day he was arrested. The Post Millennial's senior editor Andy Ngo discovered that Nafshun works at the taxpayer-funded homeless support nonprofit, Do Good Multnomah.
Court documents obtained by The Oregonian stated that police responded to the South Waterfront Portland Tesla dealership in the 4300 block of South Macadam Avenue, where an employee told officers that at least one person was pointing a green laser into the dealership at people inside.
According to police, two employees who had the laser pointed in their eyes experienced discomfort and problems with their vision. A third employee, who had previously had a laser pointed at their eyes days earlier, left the dealership to avoid it happening again.
An officer saw a video of Nafshun doing the same during an anti-Elon Musk protest outside the dealership. Police found Nafsun riding his bike away from the area and arrested him after recovering a green laser on his person.
Some protesters who saw the arrest began asking about the police response, but after they were shown the video of Nafshun’s alleged actions, they said his actions were “not okay” and supported him being taken into custody.
Tesla dealerships across the US have been protested by activists upset about CEO Elon Musk’s efforts to reduce the size of the federal government while he has been working with the Trump administration. Radicals have even targeted the vehicles themselves, both at dealerships and parked on the street, lighting them on fire.
Many of the vandals have been arrested and are now facing federal charges.
An attempt to blind people, released back to the streets. How despicable he is, and the Judge that let him out has no regard for peoples lives and the common freedom from bodily harm implicit in the social compact.
I hope the Tesla dealership employee sues.
These attacks are the definition of terrorism. They need to be treated as such.
“ Some protesters who saw the arrest began asking about the police response, but after they were shown the video of Nafshun’s alleged actions…”
That’s pathetic police response. The police actually had to show other protesters a video they took to justify the arrest to them? What would have happened if the other protesters said “Release him”?
“I hope the Tesla dealership employee sues.”
The crime occurred in Oregon so any lawsuit will have to be filed there. The courts in Oregon are filled with leftist judges and the jury pool is also very leftist. The results are predictable.
His actions are “not ok”? Are they in kindergarten? Deliberately damaging people’s eyes is evil and deserves jail time.
Since when do the police need to get the okay to arrest someone from slimy protestors?
Yes
Charge him with a Federal Crime
of Domestic Terrorism
Immediately
Molotovs = OK. Green lasers = No go.
Makes sense.
/sarc
Portland deserves itself.
The moron only has a bicycle. What is he going to recover for his efforts?
So now we have to ask permission of protestors to arrest somebody???
I’m surprised that these miscreants would do something like this and not be concerned about facing street justice.
The employee should sue the jerk, assuming the jerk has anything of value.
Time for Bondi to go RICO on these criminals.
