I grew up in a “non diverse” part of California in a resort town. For some reason the state thought placing black students (CYA Group Home) far away from Los Angeles would influence them to be good people saturating them with middle class and wealthy well behaved whites. Within days he started fights, sprayed graffiti in town, and several stores were robbed at night. Even worse he had the mysterious charisma to influence young white boys to adopt the thug persona. Luckily no one was seriously injured by him and the school hadn’t adopted the pathetic DEI standards that would have kept him there are the superintendent had him sent to some CYA jail far away.

There's an entire branch of the Justice Department whose job it is to harass, intimidate, and bully the family members of violent crimes to "not make it about race."

Thank you. I’m all for it. A 17 year old can drive a car in almost any state so in my mind if they can be held responsible for a criminal act, then it covers the real criminal.
So as lonmg as they cannot get it back to mark their transition to adulthood, they are on the clock.

The age of accountability is 17 in Texas he automatically is being held without bond as an adult. The Supreme Court ruled against the death penalty for anyone under 18 so the max he can get is life, and the with out parole is also likely to be tossed due to the same Supreme Court ruling. Most likely sentence is 25 to life with minimum half time served before parole board eligibility so at minimum 12.5 years or what ever half number the court set the lower bound limit at trial then at the separate ssentencing phase that will be the lower limit.
This is exactly correct, and has been more or less the policy of the US Government since about 1968.

Our justice system placed judgement on criminals in many cases to supposedly balance the crime to the punishment. Where as setting taking a life as a threat to try to stop people from accomplishing the most heinous of crimes like murder, rape, or torturing those unable to protect themselves, handling it with an excuse of assumed childish innocents, is a horrible way to display the outcome. The animals have no fear of prison and are willing to gamble they will get by and walk right out into the world again even though their lives are ruined. So, what is it teaching if the threat is even withdrawn? In the old west, there would have been a public hanging.
