Moscow once listed the Afghan hard-line movement as a terror group, but President Vladimir Putin now describes it as a “trusted ally.”
The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office requested Monday that the Supreme Court ends a ban on the Taliban’s activities in the country.
Moscow’s foreign and justice ministries submitted an appeal last week to President Vladimir Putin urging the Taliban’s removal from Russia’s list of terrorist organizations.
The Taliban is a political and militant Islamist group that emerged in Afghanistan in the early 1990s, and has ruled in Kabul since the U.S. withdrew from the country in August 2021.
The Russian hearing is scheduled for April 17 and will be held behind closed doors, the Supreme Court press service said in a statement, state-owned media outlet TASS reported.

The Taliban are thugs. Plain and simple. They are asking for trouble.
“The Taliban are thugs. Plain and simple. They are asking for trouble.”
Putin is a bigger thug.
“Legalize” the Taliban?
Is Taliban Afghanistan not already a member of the UN?
Yup.
So what’s left to legalize?
Politico is pathetic.
Still crying over losing free US tax payer dollars from USAID? Yup.
So why did the Biden regime give the Taliban Afghan government billions of dollars of US tax payer dollars?
Putin trying to buy favor among his own Muslim minorities and playing the “long game” with China for influence with anyone in power in Afghanistan.
Putin is grateful for all the US military equipment left behind by Biden and sent to Russia by the Taliban at very cheap prices.
Russian uses Christianity as a garment to wear for certain occasions. THey’re not truly a christian oriented government or they’re doing this for self preservation. Either way, it doesn’t make them friends of ours.
“Is Taliban Afghanistan not already a member of the UN?
Yup.”
Nope.
LOL. That’s the Truth.
Jao Bai-din even left behind billions of dollars of U.S. military equipment and weapons for them to use.
Grok:
Yes, Afghanistan is a member of the United Nations.
Try again.
fools
““Is Taliban Afghanistan not already a member of the UN?
Yup.””
The Taliban Afganistan is NOT a member 9f the UN. Try again.
“
Grok
Yes, Afghanistan is a member of the United Nations.
Try again.”

Based on the information available, the situation regarding Afghanistan’s representation at the UN is complex:
* Afghanistan’s UN Membership:
* Afghanistan is a member of the UN.
* However, there’s a dispute over who legitimately represents Afghanistan.
* Taliban’s Status:
* The Taliban, who have taken control of Afghanistan, have sought to represent the country at the UN.
* However, the UN Credentials Committee has not recognized the Taliban’s claim.
* Therefore, the representation of Afghanistan in the UN is not held by the Taliban government.
* Recently Afghanistan’s voting rights were suspended in the UN general assembly due to non payment of UN membership fees.
* Therefore, while Afghanistan is a UN member, the Taliban government is not recognized by the UN as the legitimate representative of Afghanistan.
Gee, they sure took their time, McCain, Graham and NeoCons were the Trailblazers in making Allies of the worst Terrorists in the World.
That's probably where the Russians learned how.
Sir, the intent of the "news" and thread's message is that one should not recall what you have so succinctly related.
Ever since -- and probably before -- the idiot Clintons' "move on" stratagem, the hope is that we not revisit yesterday and yesterdays.
The only -- repeat, only -- reason to dig up "old news" is to buttress on the the modern, corrupt Left's talking points. Else, it is an offense against "your lyin' eyes" to believe / recall / remember what "your lyin' eyes" showed you so clearly and truthfully.
My lyin' eyes show me that the BS in stacked high like chopped wood, ready to keep the Left worldwide including Democrats in power and belly-filled with public monies.
And also "orange man bad" and "burn a Tesla to save the environment."
--- "So why did the Biden regime give the Taliban Afghan government billions of dollars of US tax payer dollars?"
It’s all about the huge mineral resources in the country.
Grok again:
Yes, Afghanistan is a member of the United Nations. It was admitted to the UN on November 19, 1946, shortly after the organization’s establishment. Afghanistan has maintained its membership since then, participating in various UN activities and bodies despite periods of internal conflict and political changes
