Trump 'very angry' with Putin over ceasefire negotiations

President Donald Trump has said he is "very angry" and "pissed off" with Russian President Vladimir Putin after weeks of attempting to negotiate a ceasefire in Ukraine.

In an NBC News interview, he said he was angry with Putin for attacking Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky's credibility, and threatened to impose a 50% tariff on countries buying Russian oil if he did not agree to a ceasefire.

"If Russia and I are unable to make a deal on stopping the bloodshed in Ukraine, and if I think it was Russia's fault - which it might not be... I am going to put secondary tariffs... on all oil coming out of Russia," he said.

The comments marked a shift in the president's tone toward Putin and Russia.

Trump, the negotiator and dealmaker, communicates on multiple channels, naturally, simultaneously, effectively, and credibly.

Chump don’t want no deal, chump don’t get no deal!

All these dreamers who thought Putin would bow down and stop this war before he meets his goals are fools. Russia NEVER stops wars until they are satisfied or totally beaten, not likely in this war. Just recall the North Vietnamese tactic of stalling and jabbering about table shapes etc for years before that war ended. Read Russian and communist history and know what they will do because they never change.

All theater. Trump is just trying to show he’s as tough with Vlad as he is with Z. Vlad knows this. It’s all PR. The world knows who doesn’t want peace and why. But Vlad holds all the cards.

Oil is everything.

China and India. Buyers of Russian oil, and others from them.

People have to get it through there minds there is no excess capacity. If you think you can stop China from buying Russian oil, and there is nowhere else for them to get oil in the amounts in question, then . . . because oil is everything, the choice is forced on them to buy Russian oil and endure the US tariffs.

In a world of scarcity, there is no choice.

Buy from the US? US net exports of oil (not all liquids, still a substantial deficit of all liquids) are about 1.1 million bpd and that amount already has customers. China’s oil deficit (consumption - production) is 10 million bpd. A huge chunk from Russia.

Bottom line. Oil is everything. There is nowhere else for China to get oil. People starve in China without oil to plant food and transport to grocery store shelves. They do not starve if they stop shipping to Walmart.

Trump is working the messaging to cover his administration from the fallout when Zelensky refuses to negotiate and Putin goes on a major offensive in May to break the log jam and attempts to put a decisive end to the war by forced capitulation. .

Trump is mediator for two sides that both are OK with destroying Ukraine.

This is like WWI in 1917.

Both sides haven't lost yet.

We are trying to settle this like the Korean War. Draw a line. Then stop fighting.

But it may not be the case here.

Trump and Hegseth will fix US arms production in time.

Putin isn’t going to give Ukraine that time.

Putin fanboys harmed the most.

I’m getting tired of people calling themselves “conservatives” who root for Putin. He’s a KGB thug.

Don’t think I was clear.

You cannot threaten China with refusing to allow them to do business in the US . . . if they buy Russian oil.

They HAVE to buy Russian oil. They have a 10 million barrel/day deficit of consumption - domestic production. All other exporters already have customers.

There is no excess supply.

If they did not buy Russian oil their people starve. Food won’t move to grocery store shelves, nor will it get planted and harvested.

So given a choice of not shipping goods to Walmart vs starving, they are going to choose not shipping goods to Walmart and continue to buy the oil they MUST have.

If ANWR had been opened, China would be getting Alaskan oil.
