He was quite dashing in The Count of Monte Cristo and The Man in the Iron Mask. Apparently he was the original Jason Bourne when The Bourne Identity first showed up as a TV movie.

George Maharis of Route 66 was gay as well, but he was also considered a heart-throb by women. He died in May of 2023.
