During an interesting period for me in the Army I had a little transistor radio and every morning before putting on my helmet and grabbing my M-14 with a lead filled barrel for my daily morning 10k cross country run followed by what was going to be a long and hard work day, I would listen to Sammy Davis Junior’s “The Candy Man” which was a big hit at the time. The song is OK with me but the incongruity was humorous.

Lol.
I can see you running 10K and with every step, especially the if you are a bit tired, you are saying to yourself...”the candy man can, the candy man can, if he and do it, then I too can. Be the candy man. Be the candy man.
Lol. Golly,
Oh the humanity! It’s a wonder how you didn’t end up in a mental ward. LOL.
Holeee crap. I served under Reagan too... great time to be uniform, eh?
What kinda unit required a daily 10K run with a heavy-ass M14 and helmet? Rangers?
