Yes, the Nazis and the Soviets did horrible things in their divide and conquer rule of occupied lands, particularly in ethnically diverse Polish lands. They played off ethnic groups like the Ukrainian nationalists and Jews against each other in Ukraine and did similar things in Lithuania. Yes, that was wrong. People in Ukraine are affirming a sense of nationalism and independence, not embracing Nazi ideology. Many in Ukraine are ignorant of the ethnic crimes committed by the Banderaists. It's not taught in Ukrainian schools anymore than Americans are taught that the British liberated enslaved Americans during the War of 1812. Some historic truths are inconvenient, so they get forgotten in favor of patriotism.
