We had that album when I was a kid, too! Actually had it on 8track, I think.

IIRC the guy who did it, Walter Carlos, pretends to be a woman. Had an operation and now goes by the name “Wendy Carlos”; been living that way for 40 years or so.
He is nuts, but the music is still good.
Wendy Carlos also did the music for Tron and The Shining.

You solved the mystery. I remembered the musician as WALTER, and then saw a You Tube Video about Moog Synths, and it was WENDY.
I’m an older person, so I wondered if I was haveing “Memory issues”.
