what British readers may be excused for possibly not knowing but the Dept of Education in USA was created as a safe harbor for unemployed members of our left-wing political party. And, that (aside for military personnel, etc.) our federal government has no legitimate command over education in America. It is a matter for local citizens’ control.

“Trump is telling America’s public school kids that their futures don’t matter.”
I finished public school years before there ever was a 'Dept. of Education'. I received a far better education than kids have for the last four decades. And during those intervening decades, I saw scores of young people entering college completely unfit for a proper higher education. The 'dumbing down' that has taken place under this Department has been frightening.

It’s sparking an outrage from Democrats because another one of their cash cows is being taken apart. If their shenanigans at USAID is any indication the level of fraud and corruption at the Department of Education committed by the Democrats and their allies is going to top that by a mile.

The reasons for educational failures are about 70% student, 20% parental, 7% teacher, 2% union and maybe as high as 1% DoE.

I don’t believe that. Parents have certainly fallen down on the job, but the whole Liberal agenda - which the DoE has been entirely behind - is the cause of most failures.
Children are what we make them. We have entirely failed the kids.
