Old story. From a slightly more respectable publication:

The new story has current info—and refers to the earlier trial balloon.

I don’t think it means much either way.

You'd really think so, wouldn't you? LOL

The thing is...Spotify ( which got badly burned ) and Netflix went into deals with them almost as soon as they landed in California. Contracts were signed, a wee bit of money was handed over, and then EVERYTHING the two touched turned to dross. Too late, both companies discovered that they had made deals with lazy, STUPID, mostly loathed nobodies.

That's, as the Brits say: A LOAD OF OF TOSH!

The USA was NEVER under Brit rule, as were ALL of the members of the Commonwealth Nations. Yes, we were a colony, once, but only a wee sliver of this country, was, back then. There was no such thing at all, as "the commonwealth", when we fought the Brits and won.

It makes less than NO sense at all for this nutcase to propose this, I highly doubt that King Charles would EVER even entertain bringing up such a proposal to Trump, and in truth...it's a MEANINGLESS gesture.

For the past TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY ( okay, almost 50 ) YEARS? No, they haven’t!

Nonsense, "pal"!

Obviously YOU have less than NO idea what you're talking about.

The Brit Empire had NO say so, nor influence out in the open, nor behind the scenes through most of American history! Have we been allies at some times? Yes; however, that is completely different from what you are claiming.

I don’t think that’s quite true. There are some members of the Commonwealth Nations who were never under British rule, including Rwanda, Mozambique, Gabon and Togo.

Accepting the agreed upon goals and principles seems the main requirement.

(I agree with you that it’s kind of meaningless for the U.S.)

Oh?

Do you know how THAT worked...did those nations ASK to join?

OTOH...there is absolutely NO upside at all, for US, to join the Commonwealth.OTOH...there would be an upside, for THEM, for us to do so.

No matter how much of an Anglophile Trump is, I highly doubt that he would accept the offer. And the TDS sufferers, as well as many Trumpers would be extremely against him doing so. It could wreck his entire second term, as well as taking down Vance.

Yes; a country that wants to join applies for membership, and the Commonwealth Secretariat reviews the application and hands it over to the Commonwealth Heads of Government for decision.

I don’t doubt that the suggestion might have been made to Trump; I do doubt he would ever take it up.

Trump is, I believe, far too intelligent to accept such a proposition, no matter his Anglophilia.

He’s got to justify giving her a show when so many people hate her.

He may have a point, though. If 5,000 people out of millions buy something they saw on her show, there may be a ripple effect with more and more people buying that thing. It’s not because of her that the millions bought it, but because she was able to influence some other influencers with more ability to influence people directly than she has. If the consumers down the line knew that it was fashionable because of her would they still want it?
