Tucker Carlson warns Trump against Iran airstrike

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson recently took to his official account on Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter) and warned US President Donald Trump about the complications of striking Iran including the possibility of setting off a war, causing the death of thousands of Americans.

The American political commentator and presenter wrote, "It’s worth pointing out that a strike on the Iranian nuclear sites will almost certainly result in thousands of American deaths at bases throughout the Middle East, and cost the United States tens of billions of dollars."

Tucker Carlson added, "The cost of future acts of terrorism on American soil may be even higher. Those aren’t guesses. Those are the Pentagon’s own estimates. A bombing campaign against Iran will set off a war, and it will be America’s war. Don’t let the propagandists lie to you."

If Iran gets a nuclear bomb, they will use it. For them, this is a religious war, not a political war.

With the immigration of Muslims to all the countries in Europe except Hungary, there will be a war in the future whether I ran has nuclear bombs or not.

I see this the opposite of Tucker (and I like Tucker) in that our failure to use force to stop Iran from getting a bomb is the only chance to stop them from using one.

You must remember Carlson is a leading light of the alt-right. In many respects the alt-right is a rebirth of pre-William Buckley conservative ideology: the positions of Robert Taft, Herbert Hoover, and Calvin Coolidge. They were skeptical of foreign intervention. The alt-right came into prominence as a reaction to the leftist overreach under Biden, or rather his handlers, over Internet censorship, celebration of leftist thuggery like the George Floyd riots, the authoritarian measures taken on COVID, and the lawfare directed against Trump and his allies.

I agree that we don’t know what Iranians are like today, a lot of us have very distant memories of a past Iran and of the Iranians that we have known and liked, but that was many decades ago and a lot of suppression and indoctrination and purifying of the populace ago.

Today? Who knows how much of the “good Iranians” remain in numbers and in spirit, there must be some and hopefully a lot, and I would sure like to see a modern Iran, but, who knows?

We have been hearing about Iran getting the nuclear bomb for about 40 years. It is an old story but it still works to get the US to back whatever new war Israel wants, but wants us to pay for and use our military to back them up. Yeah, let’s have a new World War. It’s been a long time.
