Task Force was aware of allegations that the schools in their respective cities may have failed to protect Jewish students from unlawful discrimination, It's not just the universities. Karen Bass was in charge of Los Angeles when there was an orgranized pogrom last year at a synagogue. For some reason the police did not bother to get much involved with protecting Jews at that time.
