Because nothing they say can be taken at face value.
Because here in America, the Civil War launched a massive steal government money industry as a result of it.
Pretending to care about black people empowered the Northeaster liberal (Republicans in 1960, Democrats today) of the 1860s, and gave them access to wealth (through government spending and government power) that they have enjoyed ever since.
The race hustling industry pays very well for people using it to get government power, because when they get that government power, they can spend! spend! spend! their way to riches. (kickbacks, bribery, selling influence, you know, like Joe Biden from Delaware.)
So yes, here in America they very greatly "care" about slavery and race hustling, because *THAT* is where the money is for them.
It makes just enough difference in elections to get them into power.
And it was the *LIBERAL* big government Republicans that pretended to care about slavery. (See Corwin Amendment where they voted to protect slavery forever.)
What they all cared about was money. Washington DC was a corrupt sewer since the 1820s, at least.
I’ve posted this before but..
My son lived in S Virginia for his first job for a few years, Danville. Most people don’t know they were briefly the States (south’s?) capital for a few months. After Richmond fell.
Anyway a lot of the states records were taken there and are in a museum now. I saw them.
One of the thick ledgers was a slave owners data book. It listed all Slave owners in Virginia and even classified them by gender, age, wealth and yes …RACE.
You guessed it! A few hundred were black. Now those black slave owners in All states total must have descendants/relatives numbering in the 100s of thousands, which makes the whole idea of reparations sort of confusing.
One other thing, about your indentured servants comment. I’m originally from Ky and around Lexington there are many of these old horse farms with equally old stone fences. Common lore has it they were built by slaves which is almost universally a lie. They were nearly all built by indentured Irish. They even look almost exactly like the images of the ancient ones in Ireland.
That’s because they’re pure unadulterated wickedness.
White slaves were (actually) easier to obtain, and much cheaper because slaves didn’t have to go as far to round them up, and slave owners often worked them to death or beat them to death because they were cheaper to replace.

The only reason why the US doesn’t have military conscription today is that our young people are wealthy enough to evade it.
Slavery worked the same way. The economy rules everything. The reason why Democrat totalitarians are trying to destroy our economy through deficit spending is to make our population into their slaves.
The historian Will Durant argued Marxism is a perverted Christian heresy. Marx took God and replaced Him with the force of material dialectics. Mankind is headed towards a future paradise, but it's not heaven, it's the point of full communism. the worker replaced "the poor" and collectivism has become Marx's new Church.
As such, Communism is indeed a product of Christian Western Civilization.
There actually were thousands of black slave owners. I’ve read there were more than 3,000 in New Orleans. In Charleston, and maybe other places, there were owners of large plantations who were black and rich enough to have the preferred seats in the churches. And don’t forget about the Indians. They were slave owners too.
The cause of the problem is not your everyday liberal.
The cause is the elite. The secret handshake clubs. They’re the ones manipulating us all.
Regular conservatives are manipulated to think they should hate their liberal neighbor, and vice versa.
Meanwhile the elite steal our money through taxation, USAID and NGOs.
And the CIA control of the media makes it all happen.

That black slave owners book must be interesting in terms of sex and age of the owners. Women were not bidding on slaves, it was men. Women became slave owners when their husbands died.
There’s a story about one woman in New Orleans who was a slave owner. She was black and her husband was a slave. For some reason she was unhappy with him and she sold him. Whether that story is true, who knows.
Western Civilization originates from elite control of a national group.
Ever heard of Sparta? Rome? British, German, Austrian, Russian empires?
Elite control is practically the entire history of Western Civilization until the suicide of WW I allowed the silly ideas of Woodrow Wilson and Colonel House to wreck the world.

Western Civilization figured out how to spread out the power to allow greater freedom. The Chinese empire, and the Muslim Empire, both had access to paper, gunpowder, and the compass before Christendom did.
Yet Chrisendom conquered the world and brought about science and the industrial revolution from the synergy of those technologies and a reverence for the truth.
