Yeah. I’m pretty sure I was supposed to get slammed by an atmospheric river, last night, into today. A look at the wind mapping made me suspect it would fall apart, or stay offshore. Looks like a monsoon developing off SoCal/ Mexico, now. Not a drop of rain here, though.
In Oklahoma that’s a normal spring time..
Damn it, see what happens because of all those NOAA jobs Trump cut…..WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!…………………..eventually 🤷🏼♂️
“If the meteorologists knew it and didn’t warn about it, they’d be castigated for not letting people know.”
Agree .
They do darn good work.
One of the few things government should be doing!
I’m in the middle of this forecast area and have taken weather spotter training .
This storm is one to watch closely. It could spin up any kind of weather .
I will go to work and have normal activity, but will be watching
There’s one more omission: It does not use the phrase “according to experts”.
I use the app accuweather, the’re a decent app always send out the alerts.
These days headlines are always alarmist….everywhere you look.
YES! Missed that.
I’ve done those storm spotting training as well.
Interestingly, when we lived in CNY there were tornado touchdowns about every year. Nothing bad, not more than a 1 because of the terrain, but inevitably property damage and occasionally, sadly, loss of life.
We even had one go past us here in NH, not close but there have been a couple in the 5 years we’ve been here and this is NOT tornado favorable terrain.
We’re more likely to get lightning strikes of straight line winds and I’ve personally experienced that in both NY and NH. Seems like we’re most likely to get the lightning strikes here. When you hear zzzzzzzzttttt, crack, boom almost simultaneously, you know it was close.
I am more prone to stay inside during thunderstorms here because of the lighting.
And I do appreciate knowing they are on their way.
I also agree about the weather service funding, not only for safety for us, but I know the aviation community is heavily dependent on accurate forecasts. And the shipping and boating industry as well.

Max Velocity is someone more alarmist, for lack of a better term, but he’s good, too. Ryan Hall is much more mellow.
