On December 2, 1823, President James Monroe gave his 7th State of the Union address before Congress, using the occasion to advance what would later become known as the Monroe Doctrine.
After a string of former Spanish colonies in the Americas declared their independence, Monroe said the United States would oppose further predation in the region from the European empires to preserve the newly emancipated states.
As American power exploded during the 19th and early 20th centuries, the Monroe Doctrine evolved and increasingly came to mean Washington's opposition to any potentially hostile foreign power establishing itself in the Americas. An hour later they will be on the verge of another one
Ha.
And now no cat in the Carribean will be safe on Chicken Lunch Special days at the Chinese restaurants.

Steaming bovine excrement.
China has no ability to project power so far from home.i doubt they could take Taiwan without disastrous losses.
the united states used china, a country of very poor but intelligent people to mass produce all our cheap plastic crap. Now, china wants to find its own “china.” They’ve tried Africa and now the caribbean —- good luck with that. Tying yourself to these failed countries is never a winning situation for anybody. My advice to china would be—— “Run!!!”

It projects power through its overseas military bases often mislabeled as ‘Ports’.
Them countries that border that Gulf of America are independent countries -- just like that there Ukraine.
We've been told for all these years that them sovereign countries get to make their own decisions. If they want to become BFFs with China, why can't they do that?
That's why they're called sovereign.
Has something changed??
I guess you’re right. if we have a right to the China Sea and the north Pacific, they have a right to the Caribbean and the Gulf.
