Over the last twenty years, the media, an institution that had defined American politics in the twentieth century, began a decline that has wiped out its influence, its finances and its future.
Ask anyone in the media what happened and they will blame the internet, social media, disinformation, echo chambers and other tired buzzwords directing the fault elsewhere.
The reality is that the media killed itself.

I got to see an early introduction to this in my teens and early twenties when I often read remarks from hockey writers at establishment media outlets about how stupid veteran NHL players (Guy Lafleur, Rod Langway, Al Secord, Brad Marsh and a few others) were to continue playing without helmets even when it became obvious that they were generally treated with that good bit more respect when it came to high sticks or elbows or cheap shots from behind.
Ones like Don Cherry and others correctly warned about phasing the helmets (and later shields) in would lead to more injuries to the head and neck area from the lack of regard and respect to the head area. Now you have all sorts of players who wore helmets either voluntarily or were covered by the NHL’s 1979 law suing the league over concussions and head trauma. I know it is maybe that bit silly to mention something like this but it still shows in a way the wisdom (or lack thereof) of the media in trying to force opinions on people.

and the media continues to do so and, instead, pretends that high inflation and other challenges started two months ago. Also, Greenfield leaves out of his narrative the damage the media did to itself during COVID. They killed anyone who didn’t dare ascribe to the madness of masks and lockdowns.
I remember seeing that news spot as a kid and knew what it meant.
The last few conservatives in media were Harry Reasoner and Howard K Smith on ABC News. I liked them in my youth, early to mid 1970’s. The last good non communist on ABC was David Brinkley who finished his career on This Week every Sunday. It was the last time I ever watched a news program on Sunday morning since they put George Stephanopoulos in his place. The partisanship of ABC was undeniable at that point.
The media decline began ca. 1907 when Joseph Pulitzer’s New York City newspaper was found to have libled President Theodore Roosevelt.
Yuri Bezmenov warned that the commies were taking over our schools and teaching American kids to hate their country. Generations later those kids are running the media, under the control of the intelligence agencies.

I can remember when Time was a favorably looked-at publication in schools. Maybe it still is.....in some schools.

The 56-year-old anchor, who had been with MSNBC for over a decade, is said to be furious over what she sees as a backstabbing betrayal from the very network she helped build.

An MSNBC insider said: “She’s livid, and she knows everything. She’s ready to burn the house down.” According to sources, Reid signed her own death warrant by holding an internal summit with other anchors, including Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O’Donnell and Nicolle Wallace, to unite in battle against the network’s new strategy to be less left-wing biased.
Reid also took to the air to liken President Donald Trump’s tactics with fascism. Meanwhile, the liberal television personality has been blasted for her own racially charged rhetoric in saying that Americans were afraid of a “brown invasion” over the border and that Black people would be “weird” if they didn’t vote for Kamala Harris. She also blamed Harris’s loss in November on “white women” who “did not show up” for her.
