Apparently you know of no one who has had Alzheimers. The ultimately die because they forget how to eat, and/or breathe.

They had loads of money. Don’t ask me why they didn’t hire an
assistant caretaker. But some couples are like that. Very very private about their business.

How very sad.
May they both rest in peace.

I can see it happening. The caregiver dies suddenly. The loved one is left alone and confused ... So horrible.
What I don't understand is how no one checked on them. If the maintenance guys hadn't stopped by, their bodies would probably still be in there.

She was extremely healthy until she wasn’t.
Had some symptoms but tried to treat those herself.
I can understand that from a person who led a healthy lifestyle and was probably rarely sick and when she was she threw it off in couple of days.
The shame is they had tremendous wealth and could have hired help to look after him which in this case could have got her attention before she could no longer help herself.
In my own family I’ve seen the caregiver mentality that is hesitant to admit the caregiver is harming their own physical and mental well being by trying to go it alone.

I guess she left the door opened during the daytime because she wasn’t expecting to drop dead.

βOn Feb. 9, Arakawa picked up one of their three dogs β the dog who was later found dead in the home with the couple β from a vet hospital after a procedure, which may explain why the dog was discovered in a crate when the bodies were found, the sheriff said.β
Dog was in crate. Wife and caretaker died from Hantavirus. Gene had advanced Alzheimer's so there was no one to care for the dog so the dog starved to death. Gene later died from heart disease and not being able to care for himself. Sad.

The dog died of starvation. Gene might have as well. I really don’t think he was killed by cartels or some shit. Maybe that Australian dude did it.

I'm shocked that they didn't have any weekly cleaning service coming by to clean their sprawling estate. Mrs Hackman appears to have been was very hands on.

There’s an ongoing joke on Free Republic, that people comment on things, without having read the article.
Maybe it’s not really a joke.............

He had Alzheimer’s. My ex mother-in-law has that, and she doesn’t even know how to tell time anymore.

Taking care of one person with dementia/Alzheimer's is almost intolerable (I know). As soon as he was diagnosed, she should have had hired some professional care for him. Make life easier for both of them.
What a mess.
