MIAMI – A woman who was pistol-whipped through an open car window in was fired at by the assailant after she went back to the scene to meet with Miami police, an arrest report states. But authorities say she had a gun, too — and turned the tables on the suspect.
Antwon Rashaad Wimberly, 24, appeared in court Monday morning with his left arm in a shoulder sling after police said the victim shot him in early November in the Overtown neighborhood, sending him to the hospital.
He’s now facing five felonies, including one count of attempted murder.
According to an arrest report from the Miami Police Department, the victim and her two friends drove to the 1500 block of Northwest Fourth Avenue on the morning of Nov. 3 to meet with a man named “Glitt,” who “gave them money to spend on a liquor bottle.”
Police said afterward, Wimberly, known to the victim as “Tigg,” went up to the front passenger’s side of the Kia K5, where she was sitting, and tapped on the window.
She rolled down the window and Wimberly said, “Now, what’s up?” before pulling out a gun from his waistband and hitting the victim in the head with it, the report states.
Authorities said a brief argument ensued and the three drove off to Miami Gardens, but decided to go back to the scene to report what happened to police.
Police said two women drove up behind their car and then Wimberly drove up in a separate car with another woman. The two got out of the car and Wimberly then demanded that the victim fight the woman, who he called his “baby momma,” the report states.
Wimberly took out his gun and began shooting, police said, leading the woman to take cover and then find her own gun. She fired back, they said, hitting Wimberly in the abdomen, leading him to undergo emergency surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
The sister of the woman Wimberly called his “baby momma” told police that “her mother was taking her to work when her little sister told her she was about to fight” the victim, the report states.
Police said she told detectives that she was “ready to just fight and then go to work.”
The report states that she told detectives that she remembered hearing someone say “she’s got a gun” and then heard gunshots.
Wimberly, after leaving the hospital, will be staying put in jail for the time being. Miami-Dade Judge Mindy Glazer ordered him to be held without bond on the attempted murder charge Monday.
Additionally, jail records show was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and one count of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
That’s what I call moving the Overtown window!
For simplification, if he was shot in the abdomen why is his arm in a sling?

If allowed in your state, keep a small pistol (.22 or so) in a holster strapped to the inside drivers door. You don’t need a cannon, just a deterrent. Target the nose - aim small, miss small.
