Information:
1) When you see something Russian that says “neft” that refers to oil. “gas” is gas. GAZPROM is their super duper gas company, but there is a division of GAZPROM that is GAZPROMneft. Rosneft is their big oil company (publicly traded, but 51% of the shares are Russian govt).
2) The Russians measure their oil flow in tonnes. Vs barrels. There is some merit beyond mere preference or metric this or that. Barrels are a measure of volume. A barrel is 42 gallons. But all oil is not created equal and some barrels weigh more tonnes than others — because they have more dense oil than others. Rule of thumb conversion is 7. 7 barrels per tonne.
3) The article says this refinery processes 168,000 barrels/day. This is pretty much nothing. The largest refinery in the world is in India and it processes 1.5 million barrels/day. One can be sure that the article will be updated to show a bigger number than 168K, regardless of repairs.
