Felt did exactly what McCabe, Strozk etc did to Trump with the stupid russia thing. Selectively leaked to give the appearance of a sinister crime. There was zero evidence that Nixon did ANY of the things the media claimed. Drove his poll numbers down, mid-terms were coming up and they forced him out. He resigned mainly because of his health.

Felt doesn't match the description from Woodstein in their book. They characterized Deep Throat as a "source in the Executive Branch who had access to information at CRP [The Committee to Re-Elect the President] as well as at the White House" All The President’s Men (p. 71) That's not Felt, even if he was leaking too.

John Dean concluded that Haig was DT:
Dean said that since he first declared Haig was Deep Throat, reaction from many people supports his contention.
'I've heard reports from people who know Al Haig very well, that they say, 'Yeah, that works.' I've heard reaction from the Reagan White House. They say, 'Boy, that sure fits.' I've got reaction from people at The Washington Post, 'Finally, somebody said it.''

Despite Alexander Haig's denials, John Dean said Thursday he still believes Haig is Watergate's 'Deep Throat.'
