Good to hear from you! I don’t think I can hold a candle next to you or your mom!

We aren’t allowed to burn anything here in our HOA unless it’s in a fire pit/fire ring. So anything we gather from the yard is used as kindling during the winter.

Now that it’s daylight saving time, and evening temps aren’t below 40 for long, we aren’t building indoor fires anymore. We may get one more fire in on the weekend, but that remains to be seen.

We are enjoying the 60-70 degree highs, and lots of sun! Ok, I’M enjoying the sun! Hubby is still wearing sunglasses indoors after his eye surgery a week ago. He is getting to the frustrating part of being a good patient, but the healing is going slower than he wants (but on schedule according to the doctor). It’s a little bit bothersome to him, that is isn’t healing faster, but I remind him to be patient. He’s a good sport - most of the time.

We’ve played lots of Yahtzee and backgammon. Have watched lots of movies, listened to podcasts, and watched plenty of sports (soccer, hockey, and basketball mostly). Ran through several episodes of National Geographic tv. Whatever floats his boat, I go with. I’m keeping up with the meals, the laundry, and general housekeeping. We are both looking forward to when he is released to “normal” activity.

At Walmart today, there were planters with several bulbs in them. The tiny crocuses were coming up, with daffodils getting ready. Also in the pot are tulips and grape muscari. I couldn’t resist. I needed a little bit of spring to help my mood. Around here, things are starting to pop up, but nothing has opened yet. These should be a week or two ahead of my yard.

I think it’s great that you’re in a position to help out your relative with her cat. I know she appreciates it!

Hugs to all my FRiends out there! I love being able to come here and read all the posts. It’s good to know there are so many kind and thoughtful people out there.

Trip to the old town/house yesterday - made a total of 16 stops, including 2 medical appointments for mom. We left at 6:30 am & got back at 9 pm. On the way home, we got off the interstate after 45 minutes, went maybe 2-3 miles & the main road we use was closed - I have no idea why. I had to turn around, go back to the interstate, go to the next town, take a bypass & another route to intersect with where the closed road comes out to put us on the road over the mountains. It probably cost us 45 minutes of extra time & most of the detour route was heavy traffic instead of country road - not what I needed!

So today, I am wiped out - more mental than anything. The guys are here putting down base layers of gravel for the asphalt - this is day 3 of prep work. I had no idea of the work it takes to put down a solid foundation for asphalt so it’san education. Once they leave (equipment blocking the driveway out), I have to go to the grocery store, check another place to see if they have top soil, & go to a car repair shop (not a dealer) to see if they can handle the latest car issue. We got the coolant leak & thermostat replaced, drove it 2 weeks no issues and the check engine light just came back on. The dealer is 30 miles away - would like to find a local mechanic. The asphalt company owner recommended some “good people” so that is who I want to talk to.

At the old house, my brother has hauled 15 loads of downed branches, some off the old pines are as big around as his leg. There are still quite a few branches to pick up & haul away. It’s the worst storm damage in many years. Mom & I got some items we’ve been missing & she was able to pick some daffodils that were blooming. The daffodils here are up about 4 inches with no buds showing yet, so it’s nice to have some fresh flowers from the old place.

Glad the hubs is healing up well after his eye surgery!
