Why was Explorer so much faster in Win 7?

I saw a post on another forum, No matter how fast hardware becomes, Microsoft will find a way to slow it down.

Yes. Windows 11 introduced me to 50 minute boots. I think even Windows 3.0 was faster, but that was a long time ago.

Yep. Explorer in win11 is terrible. And the start search is awful. They keep trying to search online/cloud stuff.

It’s always easy for s/w to overwhelm h/w.

WAY back in the day, I used to be involved in embedded real-time control systems.

To get our systems job done we had to be very s/w smart wrt to the limitations of the h/w to get the job done. [think spaghetti code...]
