Did you only do a fast format?

If so, then most of the disk is not formatted and is formatted on the fly as you transfer files.

I didn't do a format. I assume it came preformatted. When I clicked Properties, it said it was System NTSC.

And it already had a couple of folders on it with WD software, which I didn't use.
