Russians say ‘grandpa’s losing it’ over Putin’s relationship with Trump

Vladimir Putin is facing a fierce backlash from some of his most war-hungry supporters after publicly cosying up to Donald Trump.

Russian warmongers are furious over Putin’s plan to seek US investment for rare earth metals and aluminium, with accusations he is giving away precious Russian assets.

-snip-

Staunch Russian war-backer Maksim Kalashnikov is outraged about Putin’s seeming lack of success in the war, as it plots the supply of rare metals to the West.

‘On the third anniversary of the war, they explained to us what victory would look like,” he said.

‘We get what we occupied – a heavily damaged “border” of 20 per cent [of Ukraine].

‘We do not abolish the statehood of Ukraine – [they] only need to hold proper elections – and we would let the Yankees mine our rare earth metals.

Russia doesn’t have much use for rare earth minerals, from the Kola Peninsula, the captured Ukrainian territories, or elsewhere. There is no domestic demand, and they can’t sell rare earths to China. They have to sell to the US or Europe, or the minerals will remain useless in the ground.

When posterity is done totting things up, it seems likely that it will be said that Putin has killed 500,000, to date. Thats not 7m, though Hitler probably caused the death of more like 12m. You know, what with starting wars, etc.

Not Hitler but pretty bad.

“Russia doesn’t have much use for rare earth minerals...”
.
.

US imports 97% of its titanium—which Russia uses to make its submarines indestructible at extreme depths.

Ukraine has impressive deposits of titanium ore—both useful and necessary to the USA.

While titanium may be an important resource, it is not a rare earth metal. Rather it is a transition metal which is abundant on Earth.

But not the Red Sox?

Hmm…that could cause problems.

DON’T INSULT MY RELATIVES KILLED IN THE HOCAUAT BY COMPARING PUTIN TO HITLER. Hitlershould not be compared to anyone but Gazans!

Actually, I was comparing Putin to Himmler - in response to your previous assertion that Putin was a "moderate."

Hitler (with Himmler's help) systematically butchered millions, and was motivated to a significant extent by race hatred. Putin's crimes are not yet of that magnitude. He is motivated mostly by the desire of self-aggrandizement, and by the desire to secure his historical legacy and to restore the Russian Empire / Soviet Union (a toadstool by any other name would smell as putrid).

My comparison does not relativize the inhumanity of Hitler's (or Himmler's) crimes. I am merely pointing out - with an admittedly extreme example, since it makes my point more clearly and even to the historically unversed - that even a "moderate" can be a decidedly evil man.

If, instead of Hitler and Himmler, I had drawn a comparison to, e.g., Duke Eberhard I and Duke Ulrich I of Württemberg, I doubt that anyone but the most-erudite scholars of medieval history would have been able to appreciate it.

Regards,
