I don’t mind them having cell phones. They record the stupid woke crap teachers are doing then we as parents get to see it as evidence.
In this case the child had done her classwork and was on her phone for the rest of the period.
When we were in school if we finished our classwork we were allowed to read a book, comic book ect as long as we did not talk or disturb others working. I guess kids today get on the cell phone.

I agree. They shouldn’t even be allowed in school, for years and years we survived without them.

Cell phones should not be allowed in class, period. It's often parents who complain the most when schools try to ban phones. "What if there's a school shooter and my kid needs to call me?"
