You’ve been there for her, as she has for you. That can’t be beat or ever taken away.
Your being upset as you are tells us you were a good, caring, compassionate and loving dog owner.
God Bless You.
Been through it twice myself. I know what you mean. Take care
My son felt the same way when his black lab came down with cancer and they had to put him down. He still hasn’t gotten over losing him. I’m sorry about your friend.
Think of your dog as an angel that will be waiting for you loyally in the next life. My condolences.
Damn that’s rough. Kacie was lucky to have a friend like you. Tell us something cool about her she did or liked.
BTW, justa thought. Their lives are shorter than ours. If it was the other way around, their lives would be much harder. So in return for us getting all the pain, they get to spend their whole life with someone.
Btw, give her a bite of chocolate candy. It won’t hurt a thing and I bet she likes it.
Hang in there.
God bless your Kacie. How fortunate that you had her for the time you did. God wouldn’t have put such a loving creature on earth and not given it a soul. May you be comforted by the hope that you will see her again one day.
I’m so sorry. I’ll say a little prayer for you. Our pets are close family members.
My sweet 14-year-old Siamese passed away last November and I miss him like crazy.
You gave Kacie a good life and you’ll feel her with you for a while. {comforting hug}
Sorry to hear that. I lost a black lab 12 years ago. Best dog I have ever had, great with kids, smart as any dog I have ever known. Still miss her but the memories are great.
I told my daughter that the one thing a man falls in love with instantly is not a woman but his dog. You must have been a good dad, or you would not have cried. My wife and I get Christmas ornaments made at Walgreens with pictures of all of our pets. Every year, as we decorate the tree, the conversation turns to "Oh, look, it's Sam. Remember when..." It keeps the memories alive.
Ive been there myself, Kevin.
Yeah, it’s pretty gut-wrenching to lose a best friend.
I know mine is now in a much better place as she was suffering so much. It’s so hard to let em go, but IMHO, it’s important to be there with her and hold her/pat her as she goes so she knows you’re right there beside her, and she’s not alone. I think it means a lot to them not to be alone at that time....
Praying the Lord gives you comfort and peace. Stay strong for her.
I am sorry.
I’m in my 70’s and it’s never easier and I’ve been through it many times, with dogs, cats, horses, and a mule. It’s the toughest thing I’ve ever gone through in my life. Take some time to mourn, then get another one. You and your dog needed each other. There’s another one that needs you too. None are like the last one but all were my favorites. Godspeed with this issue. Be safe. Regards
My condolences. She lived a long time for a Lab. No, it never gets easier. I think as WE are older, we have more trouble dealing with the losses of fur family. Kacie knew you loved her.
We had to put down four dogs. A fifth passed at the animal hospital. That was eight years ago. Even with another dog now, that one still hits us hard because we (my husband and I) were not with her. Our current dog is a Lab mix, nine years old. Life goal is to keep him healthy.
I feel u man
She has good memories. We are meant to outlive our pets so they are cared for all their lives.
I’m so sorry to hear this. Pets become family. Their loss can hurt us like the loss of a child.
One suggestion, though: Don’t be in the room with them when you send them off. The emotional shock is too much. Just drop them off. This approach has saved me from unnecessary shock.
This is a tough thing to live through...
I’m facing the same with my aging kitty :-/
